<ol>
    <li>The Editorial Office accepts original articles, unpublished earlier, of the thematic content in accordance with the magazine profile.</li>
    <li>The Editorial Office reserves the right to resign from publishing the article if:
<ul>
    <li>its subject – matter is not within the magazine profile,</li>
    <li>the article does not obtain positive reviews,</li>
    <li>the article is incomplete or contains typographic materials of too low quality,</li>
    <li>the article has not been prepared according to the editorial guidelines.</li>
</ul>
   </li>
    <li>The Author/Authors are required:
<ul>
    <li>to reveal a contribution of individuals in an elaboration of the publication, but the main responsibility for the content of the submitted article is borne by the author delivering it,</li>
    <li>to show the information about the subjects contributing to a preparation of the publication (thematic, in kind, financial input etc.),</li>
    <li>to mention the person, whose input in a preparation of the publication has been significant and whose name is not among the authors, he/she should be mentioned in the acknowledgements included in the publication.</li>
</ul>
   </li>
    <li>An indispensable condition of publishing the article includes conveying the author and proprietary rights by the author/authors to the Instytut Techniki Górniczej KOMAG (Application Form).</li>
    <li>All the detected cases of ghostwriting or guest authorship will be brought to light, including
        a notification of the appropriate institutions (institutions employing the authors, scientific societies, associations of scientific editors and so on).</li>
    <li>The Author/Authors are requested to follow the principles of publishing articles:

</ul></li>
<li>The volume of the article should not be smaller than 6 but not bigger than 10 editorial pages according to the established magazine template.</li>

<li>The text, planned for a publication, should be delivered on the above mentioned template in the editing version together with a filled – in and signed Article Application Form (materials should be sent to the e-mail address: <span id="cloakfe8d1169e40cff608b6d642b722295f3"><a href="mailto:miningmachines@komag.eu">miningmachines@komag.eu</a></span></li>

<li>An initial approval of the article is done by the Editorial Office after having checked:
<ul>
    <li>the content of the publication original, i.e. whether it contains: author’s/authors’ scientific/professional degrees and titles, author’s/authors’ affiliations, title, abstract, preamble (introduction), formulation of subject-matter in clauses, summary, records of literature (bibliography).</li>
    <li>Article Application Form.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>The Thematic Editor qualifies the article for reviews.</li>
<li>Obtaining positive reviews is a condition of approving the article for a publication – see the Reviewing Procedure.</li>
<li>A correction of the article reviewed version by the English Language Editor and the Technical Editor is conducted.</li>
<li>The Editor – in – Chief approves the article final version for a publication.</li>

<p>Attention: The Editorial Office does not charge any fees for a publishing process and for an approval of the text (APC – Article Processing Charge).</p>

<strong>Ghostwriting barrier</strong>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The readers of the “Mining Machines” Quaterly have certainty that the author/authors of the publications in a clear, fair and honest manner present the results of their work, irrespective of the fact whether they are its direct authors or they have used an assistance from a specialized subject.

The Editorial Office demands from the publication authors to reveal an input of individual authors in an elaboration of a publication (giving their affiliation, i.e. the information who is the author of the concept, assumptions, methods and so on, used for a preparation of the publication), but the main responsibility is borne by the author submitting the article. The Editorial Office requires the information about the sources of financing the publication, the input of scientific-and-research institutions, societies and other subjects.</p>

<strong>Reviews</strong>

Only the articles, which obtained  positive reviews, will be published.

<strong>Steps of reviewing procedure</strong>
<ol>
 	<li>The procedure of reviewing articles is in accordance with the recommendations described in the brochure “<a href="http://new.komag.eu/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/dobra_praktyka.pdf">Good practices in reviewing procedures in science</a>”.</li>
 	<li>Authors, delivering their articles for a publication in the magazine, express their consent to have their articles reviewed.</li>
 	<li>Delivered articles are subject to a general assessment by the Editorial Office and then they are evaluated by reviewers.</li>
 	<li>At least two independent reviewers, employed at different institutions than the author/authors are appointed. The reviewers guarantee independent opinions, lack of conflict of interest, lack of personal and business relationships with the article authors and observing the confidentiality principles.</li>
 	<li>The recommended form of a review is a model, in which the author/authors do not know their identities (so called “double – blind review process”).</li>
 	<li>The results of the review are sent directly to the author/authors, and then it is possible to correspond with the Editorial Office as regards probable remarks or a qualification for publishing.</li>
 	<li>The review is presented on the Review Form. The reviewer delivers a signed review in which he states explicitly that the article is approved for a publication or that it is rejected.</li>
 	<li>The final decision about a qualification for a publication is taken by the Editorial Staff.</li>
 	<li>On the website there is a list of reviewers collaborating with the magazine Editorial Office (Recenzenci – Reviewers).</li>
</ol>

The Editorial Office kindly asks Reviewers for a punctual preparation of reviews and for delivering them to the Secretary or the Editor-in-Chief.

<strong>PUBLICATION ETHICS</strong>

The principles of the publication ethics of the “Mining Machines” Editorial Office are based on the best guidelines in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for editors of magazines.

In the case of any suspicion of the fraud or neglect connected with the research process, a preparation of the text and its publication, the magazine Editorial Office uses the means aiming at an elimination of such behaviour.
The procedures applied by the Editorial Office encompass, for  example, a request for an explanation, a rejection of the article. In the case when it lacks the authors’ explanations as regards the suspisions,  the Editorial Office can apply for assistance to the institutions dealing with such issues.

<p style="margin-bottom: 35px;">The institutions, from which KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology originated, have been subjected to complicated organizational and restructuring changes. The origin of our Centre goes back to the Central Design Bureau in Swietochlowice and the Mining Mechanization Plant of the Central Institute of Natural Fuels in Katowice, established in 1945.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 35px;">A development of the mining industry has caused that the Central Design Bureau was transformed into the Design Bureau of Mining Machines, which after some time took the name of the Central Bureau for Mining Machines’ Design, having its seat in Gliwice. The next step involved an establishment of the Experimental and Design Institute of the Mining Industry in 1957, which in the same year took the name of the Design and Mechanical Works of the Mining Industry (Zaklady Konstrukcyjno-Mechanizacyjne Przemyslu Weglowego – ZKMPW). An establishment of ZKMPW created a possibility for a development of the research and design basis for underground mining of coal. Scientific and research projects in the domain of coal cutting and loading processes, transportation of the run-of-mine, roof supports as well as tests of colliery electrification systems and the electric equipment of mining machines were developed. <br> A development of ZKMPW included an establishment of the Mining Electronic Plant in Tychy, “Elektrometal” in Cieszyn and the Works of Cybernetic Mining Systems in Biskupice. The M-300 Experimental Mine and the “Jan” Automated Colliery were taken over. Then the Construction Works of Experimental Machines was created next to the M-300 Experimental Mine. The Training Centre for Machinery Operators became transformed into the Staff Improvement Centre. The Construction Plant of Experimental Machines, the M-300 Experimental Mine and the Staff Improvement Centre were separated at the beginning of 1975 and the Central Project and Design Bureau of Mining Machines – KOMAG in Gliwice, having the status of a research and development centre, was established then.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 35px;">This Bureau was organizationally subjected to the POLMAG Association of Mining Machinery Producers, which associated all the Polish factories of mining machines and equipment. POLMAG enabled to establish close links between machinery designing processes and a production of machines and equipment. In fact KOMAG became the design, research and development basis for all the factories, incorporated in the POLMAG Association. On their premises KOMAG established its local branches (FAMUR, FAZOS, TAGOR, RYFAMA and GEORYT).</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 35px;">Then the ORTEM Design and Technological Centre for Mining Machines was incorporated in and the scope of KOMAG’s activity was broadened by the issues of manufacturing techniques of mining machines and equipment as well as by the issues of production organization and management. It was also decided to change the name for the Design and Technological Centre of Mining Machines and afterwards, when the following reorganization was introduced, for the KOMAG Mining Mechanization Centre. Since 1st January 2009 KOMAG acts as Institute of Mining Technology KOMAG.</p></div>

<p style="text-align: justify;">A competitiveness condition of both scientific as well as designing and production bodies consists in preserving their “youth”, including a learning ability also by taking advantage of scientific and technical information. An activity of the scientific-and-technical information includes, among others, an organized functioning of scpecialistic centres and it incorporates storing, processing and rendering accessible the information about a condition and development trends of science and technology, not only on the domestic level, but mainly on the world -wide level. For over 40 years in the KOMAG organizational structure the unit of scientific-and-technical information operates and it stores information and, at present, also elaborates and supervises specialistic, bibliographic computer base INTE-KOMAG, using the licensed packet Micro CDS/ISIS.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The subject-matter of the base incorporates a widely understood mechanization of underground mining: machines for cutting and transporation, powered roof supports, longwall systems, stowing, drilling, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment, winding machines and equipment, issues from the scope of coal processing and mechanical beneficiation, environmental protection, issues connected with a restructuring process of the mining industry.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The chronological range of the computer base incorporates the years 1985 – till the latest publications and the base itself incorporates more than 43&nbsp;350 records and each of them includes bibliographical data of the source document, a translation of a foreign title, a descriptive analysis or in the case of more important publications the author’s abstract or comments.</p>
This base enables the Unit to prepare information on:
<ul>
 	<li>thematic lists,</li>
 	<li>thematic profiles in the current information system,</li>
 	<li>information services,</li>
 	<li>analytical-and-synthetic elaborations,</li>
 	<li>other information services, whose subject-matter and frequency can be agreed</li>
