Virtual prototyping of operator’s cabin in CLS-120 floor-mounted railway in the light of safety criterion

Chuchnowski W., Tokarczyk J., Szewerda K., Turewicz A.

A method of assessment of design solutions of mining floor-mounted railway in the light of safety criteria was presented in the paper. Developed method has a general character and it can be applied to determine design features of wide range of solutions of transportation means.

Reasons of failures of control hydraulics components and suggestion as regards their minimization

Gil J., Kubiesa R., Stoiński K.

Reliable operation of control elements of powered roof support is very important for the efficiency of the entire longwall system. Proper identification of failure reasons of control components and reduction of those failures are the core actions undertaken in Repair and Manufacture Works for needs of Coal Company. The reasons of failure of control and power hydraulics, collected from the questionnaires as well as suggestions for their minimization were presented.

Australian Longwall Coal Mining 2008

Smolnik G.

Longwall mining with roof caving in Australia in 2008 was presented. Number of longwalls and their high productivity, based mainly on Ken Cram report (2009), were given. Mining heights, longwall lengths and widths, depth of exractions. Properties of shields (hydraulic powered supports), cutting machines (shearers), AFC (armoured face conveyors) and coal transportation systems were shortly portrayed.

Testing and assessment of hoisting machines and shaft signaling devices on the basis of free-program-mable controllers

Cholewa J., Hałupczok P., Małecki J.

The material shows the authors’ opinion. Aim o f the paper is to start with a constructive discussion as regards the following problems: state mining supervision, organization authorized to carry out testing and assessment of products,  expert centers, designers, manufacturers and users of hoisting machines and shaft signaling devices with free-programmable controllers. The discussion should lead to:
improvement of procedures for:
testing and assessment  before a decision to carry out tests,
testing and assessment  before issuing a decsion of approval for use,
accepting, periodical and temporary control testing,
maintenance of operating objects.
modification of some of mining regulations concerning manufacture and operation of components of mine shaft hoisting machine.

The development of vibratory tube mills

Sidor J., Tomach P.
The vibratory tube mills, because of their great technological advantages, low investment and exploitation costs, are often replaced the ball mills. This article contains the construction describe and basic technological and technical parameters the vibratory tube mills of 5 to 60 Mg/h capacity. It was also shown the applications of vibratory mills. There is also the example of mill installation, where two vibratory mills replaced four balls mills of even 40 times large chamber capacity.

Laboratory tests of impact of parameters of screen deck on distribution of material in pulsatory jig depending on feed characteristics

Kowol D., Lenartowicz M., Łagódka M.

Parameters of pulsating movement of water in a pulsatory jig ensure suitable efficiency of separation of processed material and suitable efficiency of equipment. Type of operational screen deck is one of many factors, which have an impact on quality of material parameters beneficiated in a jig. Results of tests of impact of selected parameters of screen deck on distribution of processed material depending on feed characteristics were presented in the paper. Laboratory tests showed that relationship between resistance of water flow through screen holes and characteristics of pulsating movement of water in a jig enables to adapt characteristics of pulsating movement to characteristics of processed material, among others by selection of suitable parameters of screen deck in a chamber of operational jig.

Methods of recovery and processing of thermal energy

Woszczyński M., Stankiewicz K.

Methods of recovery and processing of thermal energy from diesel engines were presented in the paper. An initial analysis of fuel market with forecast for the next years, design and principle of operation of currently used heat recovery systems, as well as power balance of diesel engine were presented. Some present world solutions as regards use of thermo-generators and heat engines were discussed. A concept of installation of heat recovery system in mining machines was suggested, and benefits resulting from investing in a heat recovery technology and from conversion of thermal energy were presented.

Selection of suppliers in the aspect of quality processes on the example of PN-EN ISO 9001:2009 Standard

Zając R., Zając A.

General principles for assessment the suppliers of goods and services on the background of PN-EN ISO 9001:2009 Standard were presented. Exemplary factors that impact mode of selection and the criteria of supplier assessment were given. System approach to the assessment both at the stage of the factors classification and periodical assessment were explained as well as most important phenomena that were revealed during collaboration with suppliers were described.

Actions of Coal and Steel Fund for development of innovative technologies in the mining industry

Hordyniak E.

From 2003 there is a Research Programme for Coal and Steel Fund aiming at supporting development of two important branches of industry through financing of research work. The paper presents assessment if the Programme meets expectations and if it really supports creation of new technologies in the mining industry.
